Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Certification
Sponsored by the MTBA
Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017
Monroe Twp. Recreation Center
All MTBA volunteer managers and coaches (Rec and Travel) must have the Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Certification to be allowed on the field and in the dugout with the children of our program; if you are even considering volunteering on the field it is suggested you take this course if you haven't before (this is the only time it will be offered in Monroe prior to the baseball season). This course is open to other organizations and fills fast so pre-register as soon as possible if you need the certification.
At the October 18, 2016 general membership meeting the executive board members for FY 2017 were approved as follows:
President -- Mike Maiolo Executive Vice President -- Gregg Lockhart Vice President of Recreation Baseball -- Chris Garbowski Vice President of Travel Baseball -- Tony Zurawiecki Vice President of Facilities -- Russ Church Assistant Vice President of Recreation Baseball -- Jason Rutan Assistant Vice President of Travel Baseball -- Kara Judge (via vote between she and Jen Wallace) Secretary -- Vinny DiLieto Treasurer -- Marty Herrmann
Required Background Checks for Volunteers
All on-field volunteers are required to complete a background check per Babe Ruth League rules. Please visit our Health and Safety page for more information and for details on how to submit the necessary info for the check if you plan to volunteer on the field. Note that this is separate from the Rutgers SAFETY certification which is also required to work on the field with the children.
Rec and travel managers need to ensure that anyone they allow to coach or otherwise be on the field or in the dugout with the kids has met both of these requirements; if anyone does not meet either requirement then they cannot be allowed to help on the field.
The Monroe Township Baseball Association supports the Monroe Township HS Baseball Program
Please continue to support the recovery efforts of MTHS senior Mikey Nichols; Mikey is a former player and umpire in the MTBA that suffered a very serious injury playing for the Monroe Twp HS Hockey Team on January 4th, 2014.
